Quality Assurance & Compliance Standards
TS Aluminium maintains a rigorous quality protocol. All structural beams, double-glazed window joinery, and custom extrusions are processed and audited in our Slacks Creek facility to comply with the relevant Australian Standards.
Compliance to key Australian Standards
- AS/NZS 1866:1997 (Aluminium Extrusions) Defines dimensional tolerances, tensile yield properties, and chemical composition specifications for all raw alloy grades processed in our workshop.
- AS/NZS 2047:2014 (Windows & External Doors) Mandates water penetration resistance, deflection limits, and air infiltration standards. Our double-glazed window joinery is tested to withstand structural pressure levels up to 3,000 Pa.
- AS/NZS 1170.2:2021 (Structural Wind Actions) Governs design wind loads for Region B (Brisbane/Logan suburban zones), Region C (cyclonic areas), and Terrain Categories. Our custom patio and louver roof span calculations comply with these standards.
- AS 3715:2002 (Architectural Powder Coatings) Specifies pre-treatment conversion wash protocols, film thickness targets (60-80 microns), cross-hatch adhesion tests, and boiling water cure tests.
- AS 1231:2000 (Anodized Coatings) Details thickness classes and seal quality checks for clear and color anodized structural framing. We supply Class AA25 (25 microns thickness) for seaside marine installations.
Hardness Testing (Vickers HV) Quality Control
To verify correct tempering (T5 or T6 states) after extrusion heating, our QA technicians perform Vickers Hardness (HV) micro-indentation tests on profile cross-sections.
A load of 98.07 N (HV10) is applied via a diamond pyramid indenter, and the diagonal lengths of the indent mark are measured using a microscope. The resulting hardness index determines if the alloy achieves the required mechanical properties prior to CNC machining and dispatch.
"By maintaining internal quality records for hardness, coating thickness, and water seals on every batch, TS Aluminium guarantees AS/NZS compliance, providing structural engineers and certifiers with full compliance documentation."
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the TS Aluminium factory located?

Extended Quality Assurance & Compliance Annex (AS/NZS Standards)
TS Aluminium maintains strict compliance with Australian and international manufacturing frameworks to ensure structural safety and product longevity. Our raw materials are sourced exclusively from Australian extrusion billers that supply fully certified mechanical properties records. Every delivery of 6061-T6, 6063-T6, and 6005-T5 alloy profiles undergoes an intake inspection protocol, during which dimensions are verified against the allowable deviation limits defined in AS/NZS 1866:1997 (Aluminium and aluminium alloys - Extruded rod, bar, solid and hollow shapes).
Our Slacks Creek facility utilizes a calibrated Vickers micro-indentation testing apparatus to check temper properties. Hardness measurements are recorded for each batch of profiles processed. This step ensures that aging oven operations successfully temper the alloys to their target tensile and yield limits (e.g., a minimum yield strength of 240 MPa for 6061-T6 post sections). For architectural surface finishes, we satisfy the provisions of AS 3715:2002 (Metal finishing - Thermoset powder coatings for architectural applications of aluminium and aluminium alloys). Our chemical pre-treatment wash incorporates degreasing and acid-etching baths to clean the metal, followed by a chromate-free conversion bath that establishes a reliable paint-bonding surface.
In addition to hardness and surface audits, our structural joinery and double-glazed windows undergo water penetration and deflection checks under Australian Standard AS 2047:2014. These checks verify that the co-extruded EPDM gaskets compress correctly to prevent leaks during severe storms. By keeping detailed quality records for all custom mould outputs and structural patio frames, we provide builders with verified material compliance certificates to support their council development approvals.
